2026 Cape Cod Events You Can’t Miss

Published: January 21, 2026
Cape Cod in 2026 is going to be a “pick your vibe” kind of year: spring flower festivals, packed June film weekends, classic Fourth of July traditions, peak-summer parades and road races, and a fall finale that practically demands a cozy sweater and an oyster knife.

A Look at Some Spring Events on Cape Cod & the Islands

Nantucket Daffodil Festival - Apr 23–26
If you do one “spring on the Islands” trip, make it this. Nantucket turns bright yellow for a full weekend of antique cars, parades, parties, and island-wide daffodils.

Brewster in Bloom - May 1–3
This is one of the Cape’s most beloved spring celebrations, and 2026 marks the 40th anniversary. Expect a classic Route 6A weekend vibe with community events, local businesses in full swing, and a big welcome to spring energy that kicks off the season.

Rhododendron Festival - May 15–25
For garden lovers, the Heritage Museums & Gardens is the place to be when the rhododendrons peak.

Top June Events on Cape Cod

Provincetown International Film Festival - Jun 10–14
This event is five days of independent film plus events and panels in one of the Cape’s most iconic walkable towns. Expect busy restaurants, full galleries, and a weekend that feels like summer just arrived.

Nantucket Film Festival - Jun 17–22
This festival is a powerhouse for film and screenwriting, with a big-time audience that turns the island into a creative hub for nearly a week. If you’re pairing events with a beach trip, Nantucket in late June is hard to beat.

Get Ready for New July Traditions

Fourth of July Traditions
Start the day with a 4th of July Parade. There are great options in Chatham, Cotuit, Hyannis Port, Sandwich, and Provincetown. Then enjoy the Hyannis Boat Parade in the afternoon. Finish the day with fireworks in Orleans or Provincetown. Or, if you are looking for something completely different, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe will host its 105th annual Powwow over the holiday weekend.

Nantucket Comedy Festival - Jul 9–11
A national comedy lineup meets peak-summer island travel. A great excuse to turn a weekend into a longer trip, especially if you want beach days and nights out in one place.

Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival - Jul 10–19
This is one of the Cape’s signature events, built around garden tours, talks, and peak hydrangea season across multiple towns. Towns across the Cape participate, making it feel like a rolling garden open house all week.

Woods Hole Film Festival - Jul 25–Aug 1
An eight-day independent film festival with screenings, panels, and events in a classic seaside setting. Woods Hole makes this one special: arrive early, wander the village, then settle in for a film night.

Barnstable County Fair - Late July
The Cape’s big fair brings rides, fair food, agricultural exhibits, and headline entertainment. Dates are often posted closer to the season, so keep an eye on the Cape Cod Fairgrounds site as summer approaches.

Peak Summer Events in August

Pan-Mass Challenge - Aug 1–2
One of the region’s most important fundraising events draws riders and supporters from everywhere. You’ll see bike energy all weekend, especially around route towns and gathering points.

Cape Cod Food Truck & Craft Beverage Festival - Aug 8
If you want a “no planning required” day, this is it. Experience a huge food-truck lineup plus beverage vendors at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds.

Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair - Aug 13–16
A massive island draw with rides, food, exhibits, and that classic end-of-summer fair atmosphere. Vineyard visitors plan around this one, so it’s smart to line up ferries and lodging early.

Provincetown Carnival - Aug 15–22
One of the Cape’s most famous theme weeks, capped by the Carnival Parade on Thursday, Aug 20, 2026. Expect costumes, parties, and a town that feels like one big celebration.

Falmouth Road Race - Aug 16
Iconic is the right word: a world-class race on a coastal course with big crowds and a festival atmosphere. Even if you’re not running, it’s a fun spectator day.

Dennis Festival Week - Aug 23–29
A week-long celebration that helps squeeze every last drop out of summer with events, community activities, and a vibe that makes late August feel special.

Second Summer Fireworks - Aug 31
Hyannis hosts a late-summer fireworks tradition. A great way to end your summer on Cape, or start enjoying second summer.

Fall 2026 Cape Cod Events

Cape Cod Brew Fest - Sep 19
A popular fall beer festival at the fairgrounds. This event offers great weather, big turnout, and an easy excuse for a September weekend trip.

Yarmouth Seaside Festival - Columbus Day Weekend
One of the Cape’s big fall weekends with parade, vendors, and community events. A great day out for kids and adults

Wellfleet OysterFest - Oct 17–18
The grand finale for many Cape Cod locals: oysters, seafood, crafts, music, and a huge crowd that turns downtown Wellfleet into a fall festival district.
